Dear Customer,

What is EUTR / EUDR?
EUTR (European Timber Regulation) is the European Union regulation that prohibits the trade of illegally harvested timber and timber products within the EU. It ensures the legal origin of timber through a due diligence system for market operators. The regulation has been in force since March 3, 2013, and is implemented in Germany through the Timber Trade Security Act (HolzSiG). However, the EUTR will be replaced on December 30, 2024, by the new regulation on deforestation-free supply chains (EUDR).
We consider ourselves compliant with both EUDR and UKTR
With the installation of our photovoltaic system for renewable energy generation back in 2010, we already set an early signal. In the near future, we plan to recommission a hydropower plant on our mill stream with the traditional waterfall of the Burgmühle in Thüngen.
Our commitment to sustainable forestry and responsible sourcing is also reflected in our compliance with the strict standards of internationally recognized organizations. We are a certified company with a large stock of FSC-certified oak. We were among the first members in Germany of FSC (CO18331) and PEFC (04-31-0334).
Our always up-to-date certificates (FSC & PEFC) can be freely downloaded from our website at:

Our European sawn timber comes almost entirely from local forests. We maintain long-term business relationships with our customers and suppliers to ensure close monitoring of the origin of our timber. Our key suppliers are regularly visited, and if risks occur, we will contact the affected suppliers and respond within our means.

EU Deforestation Regulation, DIHK Criticism, Forestry
The DIHK criticizes the EU Deforestation Regulation, arguing that many companies can hardly provide the required supply chain evidence. It calls for more time, clearer rules, and the recognition of existing certificates. Forest owners additionally warn against bureaucracy and infringements on property rights through the EU Restoration Regulation. Nevertheless, the overall goal of forest protection and sustainability is fundamentally supported.
